On November 7, 2017, Indian Motorcycle made waves in both the racing and production worlds by unveiling the Scout FTR1200 Custom at the EICMA Show in Milan. The purpose-built street tracker was explicitly created to honor their dominant flat track race team, famously known as the “Wrecking Crew” and consisting of three powerful racers: Jared Mees, Brad Baker, and Bryan Smith.
The bike celebrated one of the most crushing seasons in flat track history. During the 2017 American Flat Track season, the Indian Wrecking Crew riding the specialized FTR750 took 37 of the 54 available podium positions. Their historic run included 14 race victories and 6 complete podium sweeps, ultimately securing the manufacturer’s title for Indian and the 5th AMA Grand National Championship for Jared Mees. The overwhelming public reception of the custom bike on November 7th directly paved the way for Indian’s highly successful production line of street-legal FTR motorcycles.
